Food Exhibition | Luohe City in Henan Province Sees Strong Momentum in Food Export Growth

2025.04.28

Recent statistics show that Luohe City in Henan Province has experienced rapid economic growth in the first quarter of this year. According to local government data, the city's GDP reached nearly 50 billion yuan, with a growth rate of 6.7%, ranking among the top in the province. Notably, food exports surged to 190 million yuan, marking an impressive year-on-year increase of 84.7%. The Food Exhibition will offer more information about import and export.

Malaysia and Hong Kong, China, are key export markets, accounting for nearly 40% of the city's total food exports. Meanwhile, exports to ASEAN countries exceeded 50 million yuan, soaring by 123.9% compared to the same period last year, while shipments to RCEP member countries surpassed 74 million yuan, up 85.2%. In terms of product categories, snack food exporters dominate in number, while mushroom-based products lead in export value. Specifically, pet food exports reached approximately 37.8 million yuan, growing by 76.1%—the highest in the province. Canned mushroom exports stood at 47.8 million yuan, up 15.4%, and meat product exports hit 23.5 million yuan, skyrocketing by 137.1%, both ranking second in the province.

The Food Exhibition notes that as China’s first city to earn the title of "China Food Capital," Luohe boasts a food industry valued at 250 billion yuan. To further upgrade the sector, the local government has set a development vision of "global perspective, Central Plains characteristics, and premium quality." This year, Luohe has implemented a targeted enterprise support system, selecting 15 major international food exhibitions—including the Las Vegas Pasta Expo in the U.S. and the London Food Fair in the UK—to help domestic food companies expand overseas markets.

To facilitate smoother exports, local customs authorities have introduced multiple efficiency measures, such as a fast-track inspection channel for agricultural products, a "centralized + on-site" collaborative clearance model ensuring 24/7 operations, and an optimized e-certification "cloud issuance" system to expedite export processes.

Currently, Luohe’s food companies are actively aligning with international standards, strengthening brand competitiveness, and driving the transformation of this "Food Capital" into a globally recognized "Gourmet Capital."
