Food Expo 2025 in Shenzhen| Lvshun Blueberries Successfully Enter Russian Market, with Protected Agriculture Boosting Quality

2025.08.05

Food Expo 2025 in Shenzhen noted that a major breakthrough has recently been achieved at the Guoranhao Blueberry Planting Base in Wangjia Village, Longtou Sub-district, Lvshunkou District, Dalian. The high-quality blueberries produced at the base have been exported to Russia for the first time, marking a crucial step in the international market expansion of Lvshun blueberries.

During the harvest season, over 50 workers at the base start their busy work at 5 a.m. every day, with a daily picking volume of nearly 1,500 kilograms. Currently, the blueberries in more than 2.67 hectares of multi-span cold greenhouses have been basically harvested. Yu Qingwen, the person in charge of the base, introduced that this year’s adoption of cold greenhouse cultivation mode has increased blueberry yield by over 50% compared to last year, with the total output exceeding 3,500 kilograms. Compared to traditional open-field planting, cold greenhouse technology not only allows the blueberries to hit the market 1 to 2 months earlier but also enables precise control of environmental factors such as temperature, humidity, and light. This effectively reduces the impact of extreme weather and pests/diseases, ensuring stable fruit quality. This year, the base’s blueberries began to be marketed successively from June 5th, with a daily output of about 500 kilograms in the initial stage and increasing to 1,500 to 2,000 kilograms in the later stage. These blueberries are mainly supplied to the Russian market, with the export price reaching 30 yuan per jin, bringing significant economic benefits.

It is understood that five years ago, with technical support from the Modern Agricultural Production and Development Service Center of Lvshunkou District, the base introduced 13,000 blueberry seedlings of two varieties, "Bluecrop" and "Liberty", from Dandong for trial planting. After years of scientific management, the blueberry trees have now entered the high-yield period. They are not only popular in domestic regions such as Shandong, Inner Mongolia, and Tianjin but have also successfully entered the Russian market, winning favor from overseas consumers.

Currently, the blueberry harvesting work has come to an end, but agricultural technical services have not stopped. Tian Guanghui, a senior agronomist from the Modern Agricultural Production and Development Service Center of Lvshunkou District, led his team to the base to guide the follow-up management work. Tian Guanghui stated that this year, measures such as laying weed control fabric and spring soil sealing have effectively inhibited the breeding of pests like beetles, laying a foundation for stable and increased production next year.

The successful export of Lvshun blueberries to Russia this time is not only a recognition of their quality but also provides valuable experience for the internationalization of local characteristic agricultural products. Food Expo 2025 in Shenzhen learned that the Lvshun blueberry base will further strengthen technical guidance and brand building in the future, give full play to the demonstration role of the Guoranhao Blueberry Planting Base, and promote the blueberry industry towards large-scale and standardized development, injecting new momentum into rural revitalization.
