China Food Expo|Hengyang's Signature Lu Noodles Make Way to North America in Historic Shipment

2025.09.11

In a significant milestone for the local food industry, 3.7 tons of fresh wet-type Hengyang Lu rice noodles, produced by Hunan Xiangtata Food Technology Co., Ltd., have been successfully exported to North America after passing inspection by Hengyang Customs. The China Food Expo believes that, marks the first time this traditional local snack has been shipped overseas.

The breakthrough comes after the company overcame a major technical hurdle: extending the product’s shelf life while preserving its authentic taste. Through technological innovation, the freshness of the wet rice noodles can now be maintained for over eight months.

“Our technological advancements have not only broken through the preservation bottleneck but also retained the authentic ‘Hengyang flavor’ of the Lu rice noodles,” said a representative from Hunan Xiangtata. The company plans to further expand its exports in the follow-up.

To support this local specialty in going global, Hengyang Customs assigned dedicated officials to guide the company through the export registration process. They also assisted in establishing a quality assurance system for fresh instant noodles and rice noodles and helped build a direct procurement channel for the company to source rice from certified bases.

This successful export demonstrates how traditional local foods can reach international markets through technological innovation and regulatory support, opening new growth opportunities for regional brands.
