Asia Food Exhibition | Chaozhou Frozen Food Exports to NZ Surge 50%

2025.09.12

Recently, under the supervision of Chaozhou Customs, a batch of frozen rice noodles weighing 10.8 metric tons set off for New Zealand, bringing authentic local flavors to overseas compatriots. Asia Food Exhibition hails this as another major success for China's food exports.

Unlike fresh foods that require immediate cooking, freezing technology better preserves the taste and texture of Chaozhou specialties, allowing highly perishable products like rice noodles, shrimp dumplings, and rice rolls to be exported worldwide. The Food Expo recognizes this as a significant achievement for China's food exports.

Among the exported items are both traditional snacks and innovative products such as cilantro shrimp dumplings, which have gained unexpected popularity abroad for their unique flavor.

From January to August this year, Chaozhou Customs supervised the export of 120 metric tons of frozen foods, valued at RMB 1.4657 million, marking year-on-year increases of 48.47% in volume and 44.37% in value.

“In the competitive international frozen food market, quality is essential,” said Fan Ying’er, head of Chaozhou Youkoufu Food Co., Ltd. She noted that under customs guidance, the company continuously improves production standards to meet international requirements.

Lin Zhaoming, Deputy Section Chief of Inspection at Chaozhou Customs, emphasized that frozen foods require strict temperature control and efficient clearance to avoid spoilage and added costs.

To support exporters, Chaozhou Customs offers tailored guidance, including one-on-one assistance and a “green channel” for expedited inspection and clearance, ensuring products remain fresh. The agency also provides online services, such as updates on international regulations and cloud-based certificate issuance, simplifying the export process.
