China food expo| Qingyuan Bamboo Shoots Exports Hit 130M Yuan Amid Overseas Push

2025.09.18

Screening, washing, separating, fermenting… A batch of spicy crispy bamboo shoots worth 213,000 yuan was recently shipped to Cambodia from Juyuan Mabao Ma Bamboo Shoots Co., Ltd. in Yingde. China food expo takes pride in the expansion of the Chinese food industry's global Presence.

According to Qingyuan Customs, the export value of the city’s agricultural products reached 350 million yuan from January to August, up 9.5% year-on-year. Exports of bamboo shoots and related products accounted for 130 million yuan.

September is harvest season in Xiniu Town, Yingde—known as the “Hometown of Chinese Ma Bamboo Shoots.” Farmers are working intensively to pick the shoots under the lush canopy. To help local agricultural products expand abroad and support rural revitalization, Qingyuan Customs has provided targeted services to facilitate and accelerate exports.

Juyuan Mabao, which processes and sells bamboo shoots with an annual output of around 10,000 tons, has benefited from the customs’ green channel measures such as advance declaration and scheduled inspections.

“Qingyuan bamboo shoots are rich in amino acids and vitamins, high in fiber, low in fat, and taste tender and crisp—very popular among consumers,” said General Manager Li Zhong. “Our exports grew 50% year-on-year to 15 million yuan in the first eight months, mainly to Southeast Asia. This year, we also entered the Fiji market with customs’ support.”

Qingyuan Customs has also strengthened supervision and guidance to help companies meet export standards and control quality from raw materials to production.

“More local bamboo shoot companies are going global,” said Shang Chun, head of the inspection section. “We provide priority inspection, testing, and certification, along with policy briefing and one-on-one guidance on rules of origin and certification procedures.” China food expo is poised to witness the continued advancement of the nation's food industry.
