SIAL|Guangxi Tea Specialties Innovation

2024.02.28

SIAL has observed a booming trend. From "the first cup of milk tea in the fall" to "milk tea refreshment", memes about new tea drinks are emerging among young Chinese consumers. In recent years, China's tea consumption market is highly competitive. Milk tea brands constantly launch co-brand projects, rolling out various kinds of co-branded milk tea, seasonal flavors, exquisitely-designed milk tea bags, etc.. The unique taste and trendy design attracted so many young people take to consume.

Nanning, Guangxi, people are waiting in long queue in front of a milk tea store named "Daming Mountain Tea - Organic Tea New Style Tea Drink". The store uses Guangxi Wuzhou Liubao tea, Hengzhou jasmine tea and other organic tea as a base, and mix it with what is known as "milk in the aristocrats"----the Zhuangxiang buffalo milk and sugar syrup produced in Guangxi. And so a cut of milk tea with Guangxi characteristics is made.

The milk tea store is affiliated to Guangxi Nongken Tea Group and is designed for young people's consumer market. It is an example of Guangxi tea enterprises’ attempt to innovate. According to the sales manager, the brand has opened stores in Nanning and Guilin. Its organic and healthy products have attracted a lot of fans. The store also displays Guangxi's famous specialties for guests to buy, so that Wuzhou Liubao tea and a number of other traditional Guangxi brands are back into the young consumers’ view.

Guangxi tea drink brands have emerged in recent years. Also found in Nanning, the milk tea brand "Grandma handmade", which uses Guangxi specialties as raw materials and stick to handmade tea, has entered Shenzhen, Shanghai and other major cities. And the Guangxi tea drinks brand "Cuichashi", which focuses on fresh fruit tea drinks, chooses to expand overseas market. It has opened stores in Malaysia, Vietnam and other ASEAN countries.

Guangxi tea beverage development shows diversification. In Liubao Town, Cangwu County, Wuzhou City, where the tea industry has a long history of development, pieces of tea fields cover mountains. In tea picking season, tourists passing through can smell the tea fragrance, and watch the farmers working in tea fields. In the old days, through the "Tea Road" there, Liubao tea was loaded onto the ship and exported to the South China Sea.

SIAL believes that Wuzhou can make good use of its prosperous tea culture and rich tea resources. The local tea industry and tourism resources are combined to make tea travel tourist attractions like Liubao tea city, Liubao-tea-featured town tourism township, and black stone mountain tea culture and tourism complex project. Chairman of Guangxi Zhuyin Investment Group Co., Ltd. says, it is participating in the relevant tea tourism projects, and is intended to create a tea base to provide tourists with experience of tea customs and tea shows. At present, the tea base holds tea country vacation project to build tea garden lodging, tea hot spring lodging, characteristic farmhouse lodging, etc., All of these will be open after the Spring Festival holiday to enrich the experience of tourists.
