Introduction to carbonated beverage industry

1. What is carbonated drink?

Carbonated beverage is a kind of soft drink filled with carbon dioxide gas. Its main components are water and sugar, and sometimes various food additives, such as pigments, flavors and caffeine, are added. Carbonated drinks don't actually contain much in the way of nutrients other than the sugar that gives you energy. However, due to their sweet taste and pungent taste, carbonated beverages are loved by many people, especially as a refreshing drink in summer.

2. Classification of carbonated drinks

Carbonated drinks can be divided into fruit juice type, fruit type, cola type, low calorie type, other types, etc., common cola, Sprite, Fanta, 7up, Meilida and so on. Fruit juice carbonated drinks refer to natural fruit juice containing 2.5% or more; Fruit-flavored carbonated beverage refers to spice as the main flavoring agent, juice content is less than 2.5%; Cola type carbonated beverage refers to contains kola nut, white lemon, bay, caramel pigment; Low-calorie type refers to all kinds of carbonated drinks and sodas with sweeteners replacing sugar in whole or in part; Other types of carbonated drinks: milk protein carbonated drinks, ice cream soda, etc.

3. The harm of carbonated drinks

1) Affect bone: carbonated drinks contain more high phosphate, long-term excessive drinking will affect the absorption of calcium because of excessive intake of phosphorus, causing calcium deficiency. Especially in childhood is an important period of bone development, calcium deficiency not only affects bone development but also affects growth and development, adults are easy to lead to osteoporosis.

2) Lead to obesity: The sugar content of sugary carbonated drinks accounts for about 10%. Long-term large consumption of carbonated drinks, especially those with less exercise, is easy to cause obesity because of excessive sugar intake, and will increase the risk of diabetes and hyperlipidemia. And people with diabetes who drink sugar-sweetened beverages may also get worse as their blood sugar rises.

3) Affect oral health: The phosphoric acid and carbonic acid components in carbonated drinks react with tooth enamel, resulting in the dissolution of tooth mineral crystals. In the long run, it will lead to the loss of enamel, make the tooth section become fragile, thin, but also make the dentin lose the protective layer and decay; In addition, carbonated drinks are easy to multiply pathogenic bacteria in the oral cavity, and can also cause oral problems such as periodontitis and dental calculus.

Increase the burden of the kidney: the kidney plays a role in helping the body to metabolize water. If too much carbonated drinks are ingested, the sugar in the carbonated drinks will be metabolized into fructose, which will produce a large number of purine substrates and stimulate the secretion of uric acid, increasing the burden of the kidney. At the same time, calcium levels in the urine increase, which can lead to kidney stones.

Outlook of carbonated beverage industry in China

1. Healthy diet is the future development direction

With the development of society and the improvement of people's living standards, health has become an important factor for people to pay attention to food consumption. At present, the market scale of sugar-free drinks in China is rising rapidly. Therefore, carbonated drinks should also combine sugar-free and less sugar with their own tastes, so that consumers can consume carbonated drinks without burden.

2. A number of new flavor products continue to launch

Traditional carbonated drinks manufacturers continue to introduce a number of new flavor products to attract consumers, such as osmanthus flavored Pepsi, banana flavored Meilida and so on. With the exploration of low-sugar carbonated drinks and the research of various flavor carbonated drinks, the carbonated beverage industry is expected to walk out of the downturn in the future.
