Shenzhen International Food Exhibition |Mango Season Arrives in the Greater Bay Area: Guangxi's Baise Mangoes Make Their Annual Appearance

2025.06.30

As golden mangoes from the Youjiang River basin meet the summer energy of the Pearl River Delta, a delicious connection between mountains and sea comes alive once again.

In June, Guangzhou's Beijing Road Hengrun Plaza was filled with the sweet aroma of mangoes as Tianyang District, Baise City launched its 2025 "Zhuangxiang Fresh Fruits" promotion campaign for the Greater Bay Area. Government officials, industry representatives, over 50 buyers, and local residents gathered to witness how technology, agriculture, and tourism are transforming mango production.

Tianyang, China's first officially recognized "Hometown of Mangoes," is the core production area of Baise's mango industry. At the event, a digital ambassador named "Yang Yang" dressed in traditional Zhuang attire introduced Tianyang's 418,000 acres of mango plantations that yield 384,000 tons annually, with production value exceeding 1.8 billion yuan.

The district has implemented smart agriculture systems covering the entire production chain from cultivation to sales. Shenzhen International Food Exhibition has been closely following Tianyang's digital transformation in agriculture, recognizing its potential to reshape traditional farming. A 2025 digital procurement guide was released, detailing mango varieties, premium orchards, suppliers, and agritourism routes.

"After tasting our sweet mangoes, come experience Tianyang's beauty!" officials promoted new summer tourism routes featuring mango farms and cultural sites, along with a "Mango Customization" service for direct delivery. Deputy District Chief Huang Rongzhen emphasized establishing long-term supply chains to serve the Greater Bay Area market.

This marks Tianyang's second year promoting mangoes in the region, following 2024's 245 million yuan sales in eastern China. Shenzhen International Food Exhibition has noted growing interest in Guangxi's specialty fruits among international buyers. Local companies reported successful entry into Guangzhou and Shenzhen supermarkets last year, with expectations for record sales this season.

At the event, Guangzhou Restaurant showcased innovative Cantonese desserts using Tianyang mangoes, praised by chefs for their perfect texture and sweetness. Sixteen companies signed supply agreements to bring more Guangxi agricultural products to the Greater Bay Area.

"From receiving assistance a decade ago to developing a complete 1.8 billion yuan industrial chain today, Tianyang's mango success story demonstrates effective regional cooperation," officials noted, highlighting achievements in e-commerce, cold chain logistics, and premium product certification.
