Celebrating 60 Years: SIAL in China Unveils 2024 Shanghai and Shenzhen Exhibitions

Beijing, November 16, 2023 – SIAL commemorated its 60th anniversary by kicking off the 2024 SIAL in China during a press conference held in Beijing. Set to take place from May 28-30 in Shanghai and September 2-4 in Shenzhen, SIAL in China, the largest food and beverage trade fair in Asia, has firmly established itself since its introduction to China in 2000. Over 24 years, it has evolved into a dual-city format in Shanghai and Shenzhen, serving nearly 40,000 food and beverage companies and attracting 1 million professionals from across the globe.

 

 

 

The captivating fusion of the Chinese Guqin and Western cello at the event's opening svmbolized the strength of Sino-Western friendship.

 

Strategically located in the Greater Bay Area, SIAL Shenzhen leverages its proximity to Southeast Asia, South Asia, and RCEP nations, emerging as a vital innovation hub in Southern China and a pivotal trade center within the Belt and Road Initiative countries.

 

The 2024 SIAL in China Exhibitions are poised to surpass previous records in scale and impact, spanning 200,000 square meters and welcoming over 5,000 exhibitors and 180,000 professionals from over 100 countries and regions. Concurrently, the 2024 SIAL Shenzhen, covering more than 60,000 square meters, anticipates participation from over 1,500 exhibitors and 67,000 professionals from 43 countries and regions, providing a gateway for domestic and international food enterprises into the esteemed Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

 

 

With upgraded plans such as the Global Food Industry Summit, innovation competitions, and various matching services, the 2024 SIAL in China reaffirms its commitment to advancing the high-quality development of China’s food and beverage sector.

 

40 distinguished senior officials from various nations, including Former Vice Commerce Minister Mr. Wang Bingnan, graced the conference, emphasizing the pivotal role of SIAL in China in fostering international economic and trade cooperation.

 

 

Mr. Yu Peishun from the All China Federation of Supply and Marketing Cooperatives highlighted, “The biannual SIAL in China held in Shanghai and Shenzhen should further amplify its role as a global trading platform, fostering robust exchanges between Chinese and foreign enterprises, thereby contributing to the high-quality development of both Chinese and international food industries.”

 

 

Mr. Wang Min from the China General Chamber of Commerce extended congratulations on the 60th anniversary, pledging continued support to further the high-quality and efficient development of China’s food and beverage industry in collaboration with SIAL in China.

 

 

Jo Cadilhon, Conseiller agricole (coopération & développement des IAA), noted that the 60th anniversary of Sino-French diplomatic relations would provide an expanded international stage for SIAL in China, promoting economic and trade exchanges between China, France, and other European countries.

 

 

Facundo Fernandez Guerra, Consul General of Uruguay in Guangzhou, conveyed his congratulations and hopes for future collaborations through a video message due to preparations for a presidential visit.

 

Rodrigo Gomez, head of the trade section at the Embassy of the Argentine Republic, emphasized the importance of SIAL in China in exploring international markets and activating food and beverage trade through technological advancements and industry trends.
