SIAL BSA invites participation from all meat producers, importers, traders, and exhibitors at SIAL Shanghai, offering a unique opportunity to showcase their products and brands without any entry fee. A distinguished panel comprising seasoned professionals from the meat industry, catering firms, supply chain entities, and various other sectors will convene to evaluate entries meticulously. These experts will assess entries based on a comprehensive set of criteria encompassing appearance, aroma, color, marbling, flavor, and overall meat quality, both in their raw and cooked states.

  

Ensuring transparency and integrity, the judging process adheres to rigorous standards to identify the most exceptional steak products of the year. SIAL BEST STEAK AWARDS (SIAL BSA), a new top steak competition created by SIAL, is garnering global attention with a constellation of premium steak products from SIAL's meat producers, importers and traders. This global industry event provides an opportunity for beef producers and traders worldwide to showcase their products and brands, as well as a platform to exchange ideas and insights. A panel of professionals from the meat industry, catering companies, supply chain companies and other sectors from across the globe will be invited to savor the top-quality ingredients and select the best steak products of the year.

SIAL BEST STEAK AWARDS

 

 ●SIAL BSA is open to all meat producers, importers, traders and other exhibitors at SIAL Shanghai free of charge.

   

 ●A panel of senior professionals, food critics, experts and scholars from meat associations, the catering industry, iconic restaurants, media and other industries will be invited to systematically evaluate the appearance, aroma, color, marbling, flavor, meat quality, etc. of the entries based on both raw and cooked criteria, and select winners of the annual steak awards.

 

●​The fairness and objectivity of the judging process is ensured throughout the competition. Winning steaks and their producers will receive the SIAL official steak awards and be featured at SIAL Shanghai, enjoying the attention of more than 180,000 SIAL trade visitors. Winners will also be part of SIAL’s brand and omnichannel marketing campaigns to help maximize their brand visibility and product exposure.

Competition Process

 

Stage 1:


Participants submit their product information online through SIAL's official website. All entries will be pre-screened by our panel of judges and those that pass will be displayed onsite.

 

All steaks are judged on raw criteria: Pre-screened products are divided into sirloin, ribeye, filet and Wagyu steaks, which are evaluated and scored by our expert panel on their appearance, aroma, color, marbling, fat content, etc. All scores are totaled for each category in the first stage.

 

Stage 2:

 

Cooked criteria evaluation: Products are cooked by professional chefs within the prescribed time and standard and are tasted by judges, who then rate the steaks based on their appearance, aroma, tenderness, flavor and meat quality. All scores are totaled for each category in the second stage.


Stage 3:

 

Final scoring: Scores from the two stages will be added together and the product with the highest score in each category will receive the 2024 SIAL Annual Steak Award. All medal winners will gain the right to utilize these official award labels on product packaging and marketing efforts.

Terms & Conditions

 

Participants should register and submit product information on SIAL's
official website (https://www.sialchina.com/events/steak.html) "smartCard-inline") within the specified time (January 15 - April 30) (Access path: Events & Actvities - Events & Competitions - SIAL Best Steak Awards). All entries will be reviewed by the organizer.

 

All entrants are required to provide three servings each of sirloin, ribeye, filet and Wagyu steaks, and must ensure that the steaks are free of quality issues and meet market standards.

 

Participants should deliver their cuts of steak to the venue on May 27, 2024, the day prior to the competition. The steaks will be kept in cold storage by the organizer.
