Bodegas Resalte, established in 2000 in Peñafiel, Ribera del Duero, combines advanced technology with traditional methods to produce premium wines. Their focus is on the Tempranillo grape variety, aiming to extract its full potential. The winery emphasizes using the best grapes and constant innovation, from vineyard care to fermentation and aging.

Resalte was established in Peñafiel, in the heart of the Ribera del Duero, with the mission of making wines by extracting the full potential of the Tempranillo grape variety.

The two fundamental keys of the winery are to have the best possible grapes and constant innovation to improve at all stages, from the care of the vine, the best time for harvesting, fermentations or the use of innovative elements such as concrete or clay tanks for ageing.

In addition, we have a team of people who strive to take care of every detail and improve each vintage. The constant international awards back up all this effort.

Bodegas Resalte was born with the philosophy of making signature wines, taylor-made, in which each vineyard, winemaking and ageing is specifically designed. A marked character in which the terroir and the ageing are combined to improve the characteristics of the native grapes of Ribera del Duero: Tempranillo for the elaboration of red wine and Albillo Mayor for white wine. Bodegas Resalte is now one of the top Spanish wines.

GRAPE SELECTION

Every good wine requires excellent grapes. The bunches of grapes are selected one by one and transported only in small boxes. In the winery, the grapes undergo a cooling process to preserve the clusters from oxidation. After 24 hours, the grapes are selected a second time using a sorting table.

Winemaking

Bodegas Resalte is known by making wines in which the terroir is the key. Vineyards are vinified separately to avoid mixing grapes and clusters with different characteristics and to preserve their character and identity during the process. Fermentations are carried out in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Similarly, all the wines are made by gravity to avoid oxidation of the wine, to extract only the silkiest tannins and to extend the ageing potential.

Ageing

Just as each vineyard is vinified separately, the ageing process is also carried out in the winery independently and designed specifically for each wine, thinking in detail about the wine we wish to make. In addition to traditional aging in barrels, Bodegas Resalte is a pioneer in ageing using foudre (big oaks), concrete tanks, clay vessels and barrels of different sizes, toasting and origins.

Bottling

The wines evolve in the bottle, in a specially conditioned room, with temperature and humidity control, where the tannins are refined. Prior to bottling, the inside of the bottles are cleaned and then bottled. Labelling is not made until the order is shipped to guarantee maximum quality.

The vineyard is supervised throughout the year, with continuous manual work of dry pruning, green pruning, cluster thinning and manual harvesting.

The grape harvest is the most exciting and vitally important moment. It is therefore crucial to determine the exact day on which the grapes express their full potential and must therefore be harvested. Throughout the year, the technical department monitors the evolution of the vineyard to define the necessary viticultural work. It is in August, once veraison begins, when we make daily visits to our vineyards to monitor the state of each one and, once September has begun, we carry out on-site tastings to determine the degree of ripeness, as well as taking samples of bunches to analyze in the laboratory and determine the precise date of harvest.

The harvest usually begins between the end of September and the beginning of October. 15 frenetic days in which the weather is a determining factor and in which all our grapes are harvested by hand, making a first selection of bunches and placing them carefully in small boxes to prevent the grapes from being crushed and to preserve them from oxidation.
