Food Exhibition | Australian Media Spotlights New Trends in China's Wine Consumption

2025.05.08

According to a May 4 report by Australian Financial Observer, China's wine market is undergoing significant changes. The report notes that while internationally renowned wine brands still hold an important position, domestic wines are increasingly winning consumer favor. The Food Exhibition will offer more information about import and export.

The report states that since the normalization of Sino-Australian wine trade, Australian wine exports to China have shown remarkable growth. Data indicates that export value has surged by over 40% in the past 12 months. However, market observers have noticed that Chinese consumers are shifting their attention toward high-quality domestic wine products.

The wine industry in China's northwest and southwest regions is developing rapidly. Representative regions such as Ningxia and Yunnan, leveraging their unique natural environments, are cultivating wine grapes that meet international standards. This trend has caught the attention of global wine giants, with some companies beginning to invest in local wineries to expand their presence in the Chinese market.

An Asia-Pacific executive of an international wine group stated, "China's wine industry demonstrates remarkable growth potential, and we are optimistic about its future prospects." The group recently completed a strategic investment in a well-known Chinese winery.

Industry analysts point out that the current market environment in China offers multiple advantages for domestic wine producers. From production costs to marketing channels, local companies exhibit strong competitiveness. A long-time expert on China's wine market commented, "Operating a wine business in China now offers more cost advantages, creating favorable conditions for emerging wineries."

The Food Exhibition notes that Chinese consumers' recognition of domestic brands continues to rise. This shift is evident not only in the technology sector but also in the food and beverage industry. Experts believe that as consumer awareness increases, high-quality domestic wines will gain greater market share.

The report concludes by noting that the rise of China's wine industry is both a result of market dynamics and a reflection of evolving consumer preferences. In the future, China's wine market may present a new landscape where domestic and international brands develop side by side.
