International Food Exhibition | Guangdong Lychees Embark on 2025 Global Journey with First 60-ton Shipment to North America

2025.05.21

As lychee harvest season arrives in western Guangdong, this signature fruit from the province is accelerating its global expansion. On May 18, the "2025 Guangdong Lychee Global Promotion Conference" was successfully held in Guangzhou, marking the official launch of this year's lychee export season. At the event, refrigerated trucks loaded with 60 tons of fresh lychees stood ready to embark on their transoceanic journey to North America. The International Food Exhibition will offer more information about import and export.

That afternoon, the logistics center of Zhongli Group bustled with activity. Carefully selected lychees were being packed into containers, with specialized refrigerated trucks lined up in orderly rows. As the departure order was given, these fruits embodying Lingnan's distinctive flavors began their voyage across the seas. "The North American market has stringent quality requirements for fruits," said Li Ming, CEO of Zhongli Group. "With their refreshing sweetness and juicy texture, Guangdong lychees have become a favorite in local premium fruit markets."

As a major agricultural export base in China, Guangdong has seen continuous growth in its specialty fruit exports. Statistics show that in the first three quarters of 2024, the province's agricultural exports approached 100 billion yuan, accounting for nearly 20% of the national total. Particularly noteworthy is the performance of western Guangdong, where exports of characteristic fruits like lychees and pineapples increased by over 40% year-on-year.

Supported by Guangdong's agricultural authorities, Zhongli Group has established a comprehensive international marketing network with Gaoming District of Foshan as its hub. "Our lychees have now entered over thirty countries and regions across Europe, America, and the Middle East," revealed a company executive. "Despite uncertainties in the international market this year, through supply chain optimization and quality standard enhancements, we anticipate a 30% increase in annual export volume."

The International Food Exhibition notes that the successful launch ceremony not only opened the 2025 Guangdong lychee export season but also set a benchmark for other specialty agricultural products going global. As more high-quality Guangdong agricultural products reach international markets, the global influence of "Guangdong-brand" farm produce continues to grow.
