Food Exhibition| Fujian's characteristic summer heat-relief foods shine in exports - herbal tea, beer and fruits become new favorites in overseas markets

2025.07.29

Food Exhibition has noted that in the first half of this year, Fujian Province's food exports showed a strong growth momentum, with characteristic summer heat-relief products emerging as a new force in expanding the international market. Statistics from Xiamen Customs show that the total value of food exports in Fujian Province from January to June reached 3.352 billion yuan. Among them, exports in June alone hit 525 million yuan, and since March, the export volume has maintained above 500 million yuan for four consecutive months. Against the backdrop of the global "cool economy" driven by sweltering summer heat, Fujian, relying on its abundant agricultural resources and complete food industry chain, has been promoting its regionally distinctive heat-relief foods to accelerate their entry into the world market.

The beverage sector has performed particularly well, with products such as herbal tea, fruit tea and beer gaining great popularity in overseas markets. Statistics show that in the first half of the year, Fujian's exports of alcoholic drinks and beverages reached 83 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 29.7%, sold to 58 countries and regions worldwide. Among them, beer exports continued to lead the country with 59 million yuan, up 4.7% year on year. Innovative products developed by Hongquan Food Packaging (Zhangzhou) Co., Ltd., such as Qingre Ku Green Herbal Tea and Peach-flavored Oolong Tea, have received positive market responses. Food Exhibition has learned that the company's herbal tea products have successfully entered the Vietnamese market, with current orders scheduled until November, and the cumulative export volume in the first half of the year reached 80,000 cases.

Fruit products have also performed impressively. From January to June, exports of dried and fresh melons and fruits amounted to about 84 million yuan, mainly sold to ASEAN countries such as Malaysia, the Philippines and Indonesia. Citrus fruits accounted for half of the total, with exports reaching 42 million yuan; fresh grapes and fresh lychees exported 14 million yuan and 4.368 million yuan respectively, with year-on-year growth rates of 8.7% and 25.6%. A person in charge of Zhangzhou Huayuan Trading Co., Ltd. said that the exported lychee varieties such as Wuye and Feizixiao have been favored by Singaporean consumers, and more than ten batches of orders have been completed one after another. Meanwhile, fresh grapes from Zhangzhou Qunfeng Agricultural Products Co., Ltd. have successfully entered the markets of Singapore and Malaysia, with 3,116 cases exported since the summer, enriching local consumers' choices.

In the beer sector, Fujian enterprises have achieved remarkable results in actively exploring emerging markets. Budweiser Snow (Zhangzhou) Brewing Co., Ltd.'s featured products such as non-alcoholic and craft beer not only continue to sell well in Southeast Asia and Japan, but also successfully enter markets in South Africa, Uganda and New Zealand. Through differentiated product strategies, the company has provided diverse heat-relief options for global consumers.

Food Exhibition has observed that the sustained growth of Fujian's food exports benefits from enterprises' accurate grasp of international consumption trends, as well as product innovation and quality improvement. From the improvement of herbal tea formulas and lychee cold chain technology to the enrichment of beer varieties and the upgrading of fresh grape planting standards, Fujian's food enterprises are continuously enhancing their international competitiveness through the optimization and upgrading of the entire industry chain. As the global demand for healthy heat-relief foods continues to rise, Fujian's characteristic foods are expected to gain broader development space in the international market.
