International Food Exhibition | Guizhou Specialty Potato Chips Break into Southeast Asian Market

2025.04.28

In mid-April, a batch of specialty potato chips worth 70,000 yuan produced by a Guizhou-based food company was shipped to Singapore, marking a "groundbreaking" entry for the province's snack foods into the Southeast Asian market. Reportedly, the company obtained multiple international certifications including a "three-zero" certification from an authoritative international testing organization within just half a month, while successfully securing distribution agreements with partners in Singapore, Malaysia, and other countries. The International Food Exhibition will offer more information about import and export.

Inside the company's modern production facility, automated assembly lines were operating at full capacity as workers skillfully packaged the newly developed spicy-flavored potato chips. According to the company's executive, they adopted an innovative "seasoning powder + potato chips" dual-factory collaborative production model to create natural, sliced potato chips completely free from artificial colors, flavors, and preservatives. These uniquely Guizhou-flavored products gained immediate popularity among young consumers during test sales in Southeast Asia, becoming the key to unlocking the local market.

"We're not following the conventional path of the food industry—we believe in 'less is more,'" the executive explained. By eliminating common food additives and using innovative processing techniques, they maximized the preservation of potatoes' authentic flavor. This minimalist philosophy also extended to product packaging and marketing, highlighting the product's essential qualities. It's reported that the company will soon launch a "touch-free" barrel-style potato chip designed for office workers at the Canton Fair, allowing convenient snacking without messy hands.

The International Food Exhibition notes that currently, the company is using Southeast Asia as a springboard to expand into broader international markets including Japan, South Korea, and Central Asia. "We're not just selling potato chips—we want the world to fall in love with Guizhou flavors," the executive expressed with confidence in future growth. This innovative case also demonstrates new directions for the transformation and upgrading of Guizhou's specialty food industry.
