Food Exhibition | Lushi County Achieves Breakthrough in Agricultural Exports with Strong Momentum in Mountainous Area's Foreign Trade

2025.04.29

Recent data from Lushi County authorities shows that the county's agricultural export value reached 382 million yuan in the first quarter of this year, marking a sevenfold year-on-year increase and hitting a historic high. Notably, exports of edible fungus products exceeded 350 million yuan, becoming the primary driver of foreign trade growth. The Food Exhibition will offer more information about import and export.

At the county's industrial cluster zone, workers are busy sorting and packaging various agricultural products for overseas markets. A representative from a local edible fungus deep-processing enterprise stated, "Our product mix continues to optimize, with significantly higher proportions of high-value-added products. In early April alone, exports of deep-processed products reached tens of millions of yuan."

Despite being a landlocked mountainous county in western Henan Province with no coastal access or border advantages, Lushi has achieved remarkable growth in foreign trade exports. County officials attributed this success to two key strategies: extending the agricultural industrial chain and expanding into international markets. By establishing a comprehensive export service system, the county has effectively addressed various bottlenecks in foreign trade development.

The Food Exhibition notes that as a nationally significant edible fungus production base with an annual output of 400,000 tons, Lushi County has taken steps to enhance industrial competitiveness. The local government established an industry export association to promote "collective global expansion" among enterprises and spearheaded the development of industry standards for deep-processed products, filling gaps in this field.

To foster new growth drivers in foreign trade, Lushi County implemented a specialized cultivation program, adding three new foreign trade enterprises in the first quarter. A series of supportive policies were introduced, including export credit insurance subsidies and logistics cost reductions. Innovative tax policies, in particular, have made the county one of the province's first pilot units, significantly boosting export enthusiasm.

For international market expansion, Lushi County actively organizes enterprises to participate in global exhibitions and promotes cross-border e-commerce development. A cross-border e-commerce incubation center has been established, guiding over ten traditional businesses to transition to online international operations.

"Export-related issues can now be resolved quickly," said a manager at a Lushi-based company that recently shifted to foreign trade. The county has implemented a "six-one" assistance mechanism, where multiple departments collaborate to provide comprehensive support in addressing challenges such as financing and labor shortages.

To improve customs clearance efficiency, Lushi County is constructing an export supervision warehouse, expected to be operational by mid-year. Additional measures to reduce electricity, heating, and logistics costs have effectively lowered production expenses by approximately 30%, enhancing the international competitiveness of local products.
