International Food Exhibition | Botou Pears from Hebei Successfully Enter South American Market

2025.05.16

On May 7th, a landmark ceremony was held in Botou City, Hebei Province to mark the first export shipment of fresh pears. A batch of 17.5 tons of premium-quality pears produced by Botou Dongfang Fruit Products Co., Ltd. passed rigorous inspection by Cangzhou Customs and was officially shipped to Argentina, marking China's first successful entry into the Argentine pear market. The International Food Exhibition will offer more information about import and export.

The company representative stated that their products had already gained access to multiple international markets including Mexico, Israel and Australia. Last year, through a business matchmaking event between Hebei Province and Argentina's Buenos Aires Province, they identified strong demand for Chinese fruits in Argentina. After nearly a year of negotiations, the cooperation agreement was finalized. The exported Hosui and Crown pears underwent strict quality selection, with larger follow-up orders planned for overseas markets.

The International Food Exhibition notes that known historically as "China's Pear Capital", Botou City boasts 25,000 hectares (about 166,000 mu) of premium pear orchards with an annual output reaching 500,000 tons. In recent years, the local government has promoted standardized cultivation techniques to continuously improve pear quality. Currently, Botou fresh pears are exported to 34 countries and regions, with annual export volume maintained at about 80,000 tons, generating over $70 million in foreign exchange earnings.

The head of Botou's agricultural department noted that this successful market expansion into Argentina represents a new breakthrough in the internationalization strategy for Botou pears. Moving forward, they will use this cooperation as an opportunity to accelerate modern agricultural development, actively connect with global premium markets, continuously enhance the brand influence of "Botou Pears", and help more high-quality pear products reach the world stage.
