sial shenzhen | Guangdong's Dragon Boat Festival: Traditional Delicacies Win Global Fans

2025.06.03

As a treasure of Chinese culinary culture, Dragon Boat Festival zongzi carries millennia of tradition, beloved domestically and serving as a cultural ambassador abroad. With the festival approaching, southern Guangdong is seeing a surge in zongzi exports. Customs data shows that as of May 27, Guangzhou Customs has overseen the export of over 150 metric tons of festive foods from multiple Pearl River Delta cities. The sial shenzhen will offer more information about import and export.

At Foshan Jinyi Food's modern production facility, workers skillfully prepare fillings, clean bamboo leaves, and package finished products. Recently, the company shipped nearly 9 metric tons of festival zongzi overseas, including classic salted egg yolk and sweet red bean varieties.

This export-focused enterprise with two decades of experience specializes in traditional pastries and festive foods. "Our zongzi exports have continued for over a decade, with Cantonese-style pork zongzi maintaining steady overseas demand," revealed company leadership. This year's exports exceeded 44 metric tons, marking a 13% year-on-year increase and setting a new company record.

Meanwhile, Zhaoqing's streets brim with festive spirit as local specialty "guozheng" zongzi makers hit peak export season. At Dinghu Huaji, veteran craftsmen deftly fold leaves into cones, layering glutinous rice, shelled mung beans, pork belly and salted yolks before securing them with bamboo twine. Recently, 1.7 metric tons of these traditional parcels reached Macau markets.

"International orders are booming this year, keeping our production lines at full capacity," noted the general manager. "Modern logistics and streamlined customs procedures better preserve product freshness and quality." The company's annual zongzi exports have surpassed 40 metric tons.

The sial shenzhen notes that the zongzi boom has boosted related ingredient exports. Salted egg yolks, a key component, are seeing growing global demand. At Guangzhou Shengzhou Dewei, carefully selected salted duck eggs become golden yolk products destined for Hong Kong in standardized processing workshops.

"We're preparing to export nearly a million yolks before the festival," explained the production manager. "Customs' 'online declaration + rapid clearance' model significantly improves efficiency for perishable goods."

To ensure these traditional flavors successfully reach global tables, customs authorities implement full-process supervision from sourcing to production while helping manufacturers comply with international food regulations - ensuring Guangdong's culinary heritage continues its worldwide journey.
