ShenZhen International Food Exhibition | Hainan Seafood Exports Achieve "Strong Start"

2025.06.03

According to the latest statistics from Haikou Customs, Hainan Province's seafood export value exceeded 1.1 billion yuan from January to April 2025, marking a 7% year-on-year increase and demonstrating robust growth momentum. Notably, exports to key markets such as the EU and Canada showed significant growth, with Canada seeing a remarkable 75.9% surge and the UK achieving an impressive 90.6% increase. The ShenZhen International Food Exhibition will offer more information about import and export.

Among the various exported seafood products, tilapia series stood out as a top performer, with exports reaching 990 million yuan in the first four months—a 17.4% year-on-year rise—accounting for nearly 90% of the province's total seafood export value. To support Hainan's seafood in reaching global markets, Haikou Customs introduced an innovative "Three Priority" clearance service mechanism, streamlining procedures and reducing time and logistics costs for exporters.

"The international market competition is becoming increasingly intense, prompting us to adjust our strategy and focus on emerging markets like Canada," said a representative from Tongwei (Hainan) Aquatic Products Co., Ltd. The company primarily exports processed tilapia products, including frozen fillets and whole fish.

The ShenZhen International Food Exhibition notes that beyond tilapia, other Hainan seafood such as shrimp, pomfret, and horse mackerel are also gaining international recognition, with export volumes steadily increasing. A Haikou Port Customs official noted that through policy seminars and enhanced government-business communication, they are helping companies improve product quality and global competitiveness, ensuring smooth sailing for Hainan's seafood exports.
